Rainbow chalice Sketch of First Parish UUFirst Parish Unitarian Universalist
Canton, Massachusetts

From the Minister

photograph of Rev. Diane TeichertI am pleased you have visited our website and hope you enjoy learning about First Parish in Canton. I would be even more pleased if you visited us for real, some Sunday soon! Or, give me a call (781) 828-8851 midweek and we can talk, either by phone or in person by appointment. I hope to get to know you!

Our worship services, child care, and religious education program all start at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays. If you are bringing a child or children and can arrive ten to fifteen minutes early, please stop in at the office of Patricia Hatch Reinertson, our Director of Religious Education, so that she can orient you to our program and classroom space for children. Otherwise, just enter the "meetinghouse" (as it was called back in 1825 when it was built) through the yellow doors and you will be welcomed by an usher.

I think you will find First Parish to be a friendly congregation, diverse in both religious backgrounds as well as current beliefs. Like many Unitarian Universalist congregations, ours is a community of faithful people joined more by caring and common search than by common creed. Ours is a religion that dwells more on life—the how's and why's of living—rather than on death and what to believe about what might come after it.

If you do visit us for real and decide to return, you will soon discover there are many ways to feel a part of First Parish life...by attending a religious education class for adults, singing in the choir, bringing a favorite dish for a pot-luck supper or to a home-bound elderly parishioner, teaching in our religious education program for children, playing your instrument in a worship service, raking leaves at a work party, working toward peace and justice with other First Parishioners.

But, first, we hope to see you some Sunday soon!

Sincerely,

Rev. Diane Teichert
