Sunday Services
On
Sunday mornings in September through June, our Paul Revere bell rings at 10:20, calling the people to worship. As they
enter, the organ or piano sets the mood for meditation or quiet visiting, and the service starts at 10:30.
Large print orders of service and hear assistance devices are available from an usher.
All are welcome to join us for Coffee Hour and Fellowship in the Parish Hall after the service around 11:30 AM. Nursery care is provided every Sunday.
If you are a newcomer with children, please introduce yourself to our Director of Religious Education, Angela Konzal, who will be at the front doors every Sunday with one of the children from the RE program greeting all families with children. They will have on hand a special welcoming packet designed for visiting families. Angela is also available from 9:30 AM - 1 PM in the RE office on Sundays and at other times by appointment to answer any question you may have about the Religious Education Program at First Parish.
Be a UU evangelist! Bring a friend or neighbor on Sunday.
Upcoming Services
What will you be doing this summer? Lazy hazy days of summer can include Sundays at First Parish. Summer worship services are in the works through July, except July 4th with one additional date in August. We are planning a casual summer service in the Chapel starting at 9:30 AM. Hopefully, you will find things refreshingly new and comfortably familiar. Childcare will not be offered, but children are welcome to join in the service. These services will be lay-led and somewhat experimental. Do you have a poem, song, or story you would like to share? Summer worship will be whatever you make it. We welcome your ideas. Mark your calendars, and please come and join us.
All summer services start at 9:30 AM in the Chapel.
July 4: Independence: To Question Authority
Join a discussion circle as we read and review the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America. What does it mean to us today?
July 11: What Can I Do?
John Fitzgerald Kennedy said “One person can make a difference, and everyone should try.” Faced with issues, big and small, personally, in our community and in the world, how do we respond? We will consider the words of Gandhi, Hale and others as we ask “What can I do?”
July 18: Dress Code
Liz is exploring the clothes we wear, the stories they tell and our relationships with clothing. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve? What is your dress code? What does a Unitarian Universalist wear? How does our dress reflect our values?
July 25: Lessons from Behind Prison Walls
Larry will speak about and answer questions related to his experiences facilitating mens' circles inside prison. We have had two services at FP related to Jericho Circle -- this time I'll claim more time to speak about what it means to me, what I've learned about myself and others and answer questions.
August 22: Inspiration
An interactive service looking at the people and things that inspire us.
